Health as a Whole
This program teaches and highlights the therapeutic aspect of Yoga, and is designed to bridge the gap between modern medical science and yogic philosophy.
By outlining health as the body’s collective response to any experience, students will learn from a wide spectrum of tools, such as posture correction, stress management, therapeutic applications, and much more.
These skills can then enrich any toolbox, which can be applied as added knowledge to your current practice. Open to all therapeutic modalities, such as yoga teachers, massage therapists, naturopaths, pilates instructors, and all those who wish to enhance the overall effect of their work, and promote health as a whole.
Inspired by the union of medical training, yoga philosophy, somatic exploration, and years of experience, the Health as a Whole training is a comprehensive approach to health. It underlines health as a collective response of all parts of the body – with all parts of the being – communicating and collaborating to respond and adapt to the needs of each moment.
Theory is explored and supported through practical tips, tools and techniques, which students can apply to address the body, the person living in that body, and the person living in their life, as well as empower clients to be active participants in the maintenance of their health.

Course Content
The yogic philosophy put to practice has inherent benefits for your health.
Learn what are the benefits, how to practice and how to teach in a way that
favors these benefits, and how to integrate these benefits off the mat and into your life.
Anatomy and alignment
A combination of anatomical theory and Yoga practice will help outline the key alignment principles of Hatha Yoga. Understand the structure, function, and interrelationship between your spine and hips, knees and feet, shoulders and neck, and the anatomical support of the breath. Understanding Anatomy will support your Yoga practice and teaching; practicing Yoga will support your Anatomy.
Posture Evaluation and Correction
Apply the anatomical principles established in Unit 1 to your own alignment and that of your students. Through Posture Analysis and specific exercises for correcting and strengthening, learn to offer your students lessons to take off the yoga mat and into daily life.
Physiology, Nervous System & Stress Management
Anatomy helps understand structure, Physiology helps understand function. Learn about the nervous system and stress management, and how yoga and breathing affect different aspects of our internal functioning through an understanding of organs, muscles, and circulation.
Immunology & Lymphatics
The immune system defends our sense of self, maintaining the integrity of all our body systems. Learn how to boost your immune system and that of your students. Learn to address common ailments like sinus problems, headaches, and inflammation.
Pranayam, Chakras, Vayus & the 5 Elements
Here we explore from the microscope, to the microcosm.
According to yoga philosophy, we are able to experience our body not only on the physical level, but on an energetic level. Learn how to incorporate an understanding of breathwork, the chakra system, the vayus and the 5 elements, into a therapeutic setting.
Meditation: Mental, Behavioural, Practical
The role of our mind and its presence (or lack thereof) in all the systems mentioned. Understand neural connection to motor skills, stress response, and immunological health. Yogic philosophy can provide wonderful tools to understand the mind. By understanding and applying the philosophy through practice, we can train it to allow optimal conditions for health.
Therapeutic Applications: Putting it all Together
The Therapeutic Application portion is designed as a practicum for students to apply all that they have learned during the course. Working in teams, students will have the chance to experience the role of the client, the role of the therapist and the role of the teacher; allowing the principles of yoga therapy to be experienced on all levels: theoretical, practical, and educational, and somatic.

Carina is Currently Teaching
“Carina really brings Anatomy to life by guiding the students to integrate the theory into somatic awareness & embodied understanding. She knows how to teach in a way to weave the logical with the experiential, and make it all clearly applicable to their domain of interest, be it movement therapy, manual therapy or any other therapeutic modality.”
It was unanimous. We all loved it! Different students mentioned everything from the way the information was delivered, to the awareness that you have a wealth of knowledge to share.
The only real complaint was that there wasn’t enough lol.
